When it comes to interior decorators, Ilse Crawford is one of those I admire the most. Not only because of her good sense of style but definitely also for here visions and views.
She has just published the book “A frame for life” and I had to get my hands on it right away. The book presents a selection of her works – both in nice pictures but also with a lot of information on the thoughts behind the projects.
And I absolutely love her thoughts on interior decoration. She describes so well what it is all about. “Interiors are only interesting when they are used” is one of her many remarks and she is so absolutely right. As the title of the book describes, interior decoration should be about creating a frame for life – surroundings that are meant to be lived in and used!
This is actually more complicated than it sounds, and Ilse Crawford and her team at StudioIlse, are well known for creating spaces that welcomes you and just embraces you from the moment you enter the room. It is so inspiring so see how they manage this time after time – simply stunning and admirable!
So far some of my favorite projects made by Ilse Crawford is the decoration of The Apartment in Copenhagen, the hotel Et Hem in Stockholm and the VitraHaus loft in Weil am Rhein.
I’m actually not done reading the book yet and I have to say I really look forward to dive in to the rest Ilse Crawford’s projects. If you want to get your hands on the book as well, you can get “A frame for life” here*. Enjoy!
